OKC Advances To The Place To Be
The experts didn't really see it coming, nor did most NBA fans. The Oklahoma City Thunder are stormin toward the NBA Finals for the first time in their short history. Forget that it's a strike shortened season, the Thunder used their youth, athleticism and hunger to finish off the Mavericks, Lakers and Spurs in route to the 2012 NBA Championship series. It's the first time since 1998 that the Western Conference is not being represented in the finals by one of these three teams.
Tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs saw OKC down by as many as 18 points in the first half. They regrouped, rallied and won the game in convincing Thunder 2012 fashion. These young men earned every ounce of the Western Conference title.
I seriously don't see either Eastern Conference team taking down this unified group of young basketball professionals. Their coach, fans and families have them believing they're the best team in the league. Their style of play tells me their responding to that belief admirably.
Congratulations OKC Thunder!
Final Score
Spurs 99
Thunder 107
Eat your heart out Seattle!
