Southeast - LLWS Champions 2024

The Lake Mary Little League team out of Florida celebrates winning the Little League World Series Championship.

It just never gets old watching kids compete when the stakes are high. The thrill of victory and agony of defeat find an indelible mark on kid's emotions in such circumstances. They haven't yet perfected how to pretentiously pose in victory or hide the hurt of defeat like many adult pro sports figures. They might try emulating their professional baseball heroes during a game, but when it comes to that final out of the Little League World Series (LLWS), the innocence that comes with playing the game of baseball is on full display. The tears of joy and sorrow are broadcast worldwide, reminding us all where the roots of college and professional sports lie.

The 2024 LLWS was played admirably by both, the Southeast and Asian-Pacific teams. They played into extra innings for only the fifth time in LLWS championship play dating back to 1947. Watching this championship game was a tenson-filled thrill. It had it all; hitting, pitching, fielding, coaching, teamwork. It is a shame somebody had to lose in order for another to be crowned champion. But as former ESPN host Chris Berman always stated, "And that's why they play the games."

The hit to end the game might be remembered as "The Bunt Heard Around-the World." If you missed it, google it, and watch unadulterated Victory meet unadulterated Defeat on a playing field meant for kids.
