What a game. Two teams fighting for all the marbles. In a style that resembled below the rim 1960's pass and shoot basketball, the Virginia Cavaliers found a way to put the Texas Tech Red Raiders to bed in overtime.
It might not have been a championship game many wanted to see, but it turned out to be a game you wouldn't want to have missed. Just the heart and stick-to-it-ness of both teams gave us a lesson in competitive team sports. The one play at a time philosophy is definitely alive and well in college basketball. Two well coached, disciplined teams. That's what American college sports is supposed to look like; youth playing for the love of the game.
Thank you TTU and UVA for an extraordinary and entertaining basketball championship game. And the refs let them play ball.
Finally, the team I've been rooting for year after year in honor of my late father, a native Virginian, has sealed the deal.
Congratulations University of Virginia. You Are NCAA Basketball Champions!
Let's hear it for the Virginia bench::::
Texas Tech. 77
