San Francisco Giants Baseball

The Giants are the only MLB team since 1900 to hit pinch-hit home runs in the 8th inning or later to erase a deficit and take the lead in back-to-back games.

For Solano, who spent a few weeks on the IL earlier this season, it was the first pinch-hit home run of his career. For the Giants as a whole, it was the 14th pinch-hit homer of the season, which ties the franchise record first set in 1974, and later tied in 2001. Unsurprisingly, the team leads the league in that category as well.

The Giants were the first team in the league to win 50, 60 and 70 games this season, so getting their 80th win before anyone else isn't a surprise. What is a surprise, though, is how a team expected to not even sniff a playoff spot is leading the league in wins, and not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The cherry on top of all this? The Dodgers snapped their nine-game winning streak on Sunday with a 7-2 loss to the Mets.
