San Francisco Giants Baseball 2026 was on full come-from-behind display today as they battled back from a 9-1 deficit to make it 9-6 in the bottom of the 8th, then 10-11 with a bottom of the 9th walk off homerun by 21-year-old Bryce Eldridge. The Washington Nationals were stunned into defeat.
Those Giants fans who stayed to watch the afternoon ballgame's walk-off grand slam were treated to more than just Tony Bennett's "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" ballpark winning song. They got to see a young prospect and likely future all-star contribute to Giants history.
The Giants own a lowly 28-41 record with plenty of baseball still left on the 162-game schedule. We've seen them play some of their worse baseball and some of their best baseball of late. I'd say they are a team, like many other teams this season, who too often are playing below their talent potential. Teams leading their divisions in the standings owe almost as much to playing slumping or injury-riddled opponents as they do to their own talented rosters for their success.
The Giants currently have the eleventh highest payroll and stand twenty-eighth in the win/loss column. And yet I, a Giants fan, believe they still have a good chance of righting the ship and turning their season around. They can start with Pitching and Closing games!
Nationals 10
Giants 11
