1859 - 1935

French artillery officer of Jewish descent, wrongfully convicted of treason. Sentenced first to life imprisonment on Devil's Island penal colony. Sentenced a second time to 10 years but later exonerated. Antisemitism and a French military coverup were motives behind his wrongful convictions.
