While performing an internet search of the Celtics Championship I was greeted by an image of unidentifiable teammates in celebration. The championship uniforms looked very unusual, but I figured maybe the NBA was trying something new, since Boston hadn't won it since 2008.
After clicking to get a closer view, it dawned on me that these were not the NBA's lucky charms, and the uniforms, footwear, and stadium were not labeled Nike, Under Armour, or Rukaten. I had mistakenly left out the 'S' when typing Celtics, and to my surprise discovered a Scottish football champion.
The Celtic Football Club, commonly known as Celtic, is a professional football club in Glasgow, Scotland. The team competes in the Scottish Premiership, the top division of Scottish football. The club was founded in 1887 with the purpose of alleviating poverty in the Irish-Scots population in the city's East End area.
The Celtic own the second most league championships (21), their most recent being back-to-back Scottish League Cups in 2022-23. They have competed in the championship more times than any other league team. This team has a rich, winning history, and I look forward to learning more about them.
