I post this incredible, Grammy-Award winning woman's songs as a tribute to her music and home of Cape Verde, an Island off the coast of West Africa. I also want never to forget there are gifted artists from small, foreign countries whom I've yet to discover.
She sang in Kriolu, which draws from west African dialects and Portuguese, the language of Cape Verde's former colonizer.
