Oaktown A's Tony Kemp Catch

They just don't teach baseball like this anymore. And to be honest, I don't know if they ever have.

A's second baseman Tony Kemp goes airborne to snag an out. A quick online search reveals he's been doing it for multiple teams over his six year major league career. Standing 5-foot-6, it appears he was born with exceptional leaping ability along with the gift of flight, to compensate for his smaller stature; ala mugsy bogues, spud webb.

Tony's latest leaping extravaganza, against his former Astros team, garnered him MLB Play of the Week honors (May 18, 2021) . The A's came back to win the game 6-5 on a walk-off sac fly. I trust we'll be seeing more of this from the Oakland A's gem.

note: Former giants pitchers Sergio Romo and Yusmeiro Petit closed out last two innings for A's 5/18.
