The Sharky's Incredible Five Minutes

Tonight the San Jose Sharks etched themselves into the NHL history books after coming back from a 3-0 deficit against the Vegas Golden Knights in the 3rd quarter of a game seven playoff. I just can't believe it and neither can the Knights, who looked on in disbelief as the Sharks scored four goals in five minutes to take the lead, then winning it with a goal in overtime.

Wow, the best thing that can happen to the San Jose team and city has just happened. The Sharks found a way to move on in the NHL Playoffs. But it's the HOW that makes their accomplishment so magical. Maybe they are a team of destiny.

Here's a quick review:

Sharks win game 1, then go on to lose in ugly fashion games 2,3 & 4. On the verge of elimination they pull out a double-overtime win in game 6 to force tonight's game 7. And the rest, as they say, is History!

Again, it's the HOW they did it that makes this first round series win so spectacular. I, not being a big Hockey fan, checked into the game to see they were down 2-0 in the beginning of the third quarter. I turned to the local news. During the sports segment of the news the sportscaster reporting on the game-in-progress all but put a cap on the Sharks season, reminding us of their familiar season long problem of allowing opponents to score early and often. By the time he ended his cast the Knights had added another score to make it 3-0 . The sportscaster's tone and body language said it all; better luck next season Sharks.

Trying to forget the inevitable loss, I tuned into some other network programming and almost forgot about the game. Later, forcing myself to take a peek at the final score on my cell, I saw the ESPN caption, "5-4 Sharks Win in OT" and thought it was fake news.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I saw the highlights, incredible. The San Jose Palladium or whatever its called these days, was rocking like Oracle on a Warriors night with Lebron in town. If we could bottle the passion and emotion of each and every Sharks player as the winning overtime shot crossed into the goal, we'd have the secret elixir for everlasting life. I gotta go back and checkout more of the highlights. Every Sharks goal in regulation, again four in five minutes, looked as if it had the hand of God guiding it ever so immaculately into the net. And the winning overtime goal was just a sweet, reaching, hook around sweep that the Knight's goalie seemed to concede as if he knew the Sharks were in an unbeatable zone.

Congratulations San Jose Sharks on an IMMACULATE Game 7 Win!

Knights 4
Sharks 5
