San Francisco Giants Orange Friday

Went to see the Giants battle the Cubbies tonight and boy did Mad Bum and the boys make it a tale of two cities.  What I mean is the Giants had shut down the Chicago club through nine innings while tallying four runs of their own.  As we San Francisco fans laughed it up into the top of the ninth with Madison Bumgarner taking the mound to finish a complete game, the air got thick and the Cubbies got busy hitting.

And then, just as I'd remarked that Chicago's Alfonso Soriano used to be a good player, bang, zoom, three run  homer by Soriano and the Cubbies are one run from tying the game with no outs. Well, there went Mad Bum being pulled for closer Santiago Casilla.  Then Casilla couldn't seem to get the job done so on comes lefty Javier Lopez.  Finally, Lopez puts the Cubbies to bed and the Giants early laugher ends in one big sigh of relief.

Thanks to the Colorado Rockies slamming the door on the division leading Dodgers 13-3, the Giants are now only 4 games back.  The Dodgers are facing an uphill battle with injuries and a road schedule that's brutally challenging.  They didn't get off to a good road start in Milwaukee, getting swept four games.  The time for the Giants is NOW!

Final Score
Cubs 3
Giants 4
